Pharmaceutical Dyes
The main uses of liquid sodium methoxide are as follows:
1. Reducing agents in organic synthesis
Liquid sodium methoxide is a commonly used organic reducing agent. It can reduce many organic compounds containing oxides and other organic functional groups, such as ketones, aldehydes, carbonyls, enols, enones, etc. Liquid sodium methoxide is widely used in organic synthesis because of its strong reducibility, fast reaction speed and easy handling of the reduced product.
2. Pesticides and pharmaceutical intermediates
Liquid sodium methoxide can be used as intermediates for many pesticides and pharmaceuticals, such as pesticides, herbicides and antibiotics. Among them, urea carbamate is an important pharmaceutical intermediate, which can be synthesized by liquid sodium methoxide catalytic reduction reaction, and has high medicinal value.
3. Preparation of dyes and pigments
Liquid sodium methoxide can be used in the preparation of dyes and pigments, for example, m-chlorobenzoic acid dyes, phthalocyanine dyes, phosphoric acid dyes, and the like. These dyes and pigments are widely used in textile dyeing, printing inks, making magneto-optical recording materials, etc.
4. Production of rubber and resin
Liquid sodium methoxide can be used to synthesize organic compounds such as vinyl acrylates, styrene and plastics, which are widely used in the production of rubber and resins. In addition, liquid sodium methoxide can also be used to prepare polyurethane foams and the like.
Other areas
Liquid sodium methoxide can also be used in the preparation of certain catalysts, surfactants, preservatives, and fuel additives, among others. Among them, liquid sodium methoxide as a preservative, can effectively prevent wood, paper and textiles from insects and fungi.
